RE: Any one out there ever tried to wall paper a 5th wheel

I would think the changing temperature and humidity would cause the wall paper to come off. Give it a try in an 'out of the way' location like the behind the couch and see how it goes. We have a MS also.

RE: Would you go to this camp ground ? ?

Check out what you will need in liability insurance coverage it could be huge. People will sue you for tripping on a pebble that was not in the right place.

RE: words of caution

I am 6ft 4in and have wounded myself many a time on the bedroom slide until I, like many others put a section of styrofoam 'noodle' on the corners. Nice bright colours and I see many doing this.

We have been there a couple of times and it is excellent and well worth going to. Might take a few hours to get through it but again well worth it.

RE: Are you better off?

Much better off than 4 years ago and now retired. All this doom and gloom about fuel prices. I do not hear any complaints about the price of smokes, booze, theatre tickets, or bottled water. Try getting tickets to a major rock band. Nobody is complaining about these things and they have all increased dramatically in price but we complain only about gas prices.

RE: 1968 Travel Travel Trailer - No Electric Water Pump?

I had a '72 Golden Falcon that had that set up. When I acquired it, it was 25 years old and compressor did not work. It was very easy to go to Walmart and pick up a 12 volt on demand pump and put it in the supply side. Worked great only not much capacity.

RE: Chevy 8.1 engine?

I do not know why but they are not offering it. I had a 2005 8.1 Silverado that was a great towing machine and wanted to get another because I did not want a diesel and do not tow enough to justify the diesel price of $11000 premium in Canada. So what do I do, go to the only place that offers a big gasser. Just got a 2008 F-350 Crew Cab with 4:30 gears. Put the hitch in yesterday so will tow the 5er next weekend and see how it does. I guess the market for the 8.1 was too small as everyone was getting the Duramax/Allison.

RE: 4x2 or 4x4?

I have been towing with 4X2 for years and have never been in a situation requiring 4X4. I currently have a 36ft 5er towing with a 2008 F-350 SRW 4X2. Previous was a Silverado. Depends on where you tow and where you go.

RE: someone tried to take my rig...

Had similar experience with a dealer with my 5er. Went to pick it up and after several attempts could not get the jaws on my hitch to close around the pin. After looking at the pin box, the pin was actually bent, now how would one accomplish that. My call is the yard guy with the yard mover did something wrong but it would have been a huge stress on the pin box. Went into the dealer and spoke with the owner. He took one look and called out a tech to replace the entire pin box.
I agree with the other poster. I think the yard guy messed up and is making up the story.

RE: Where to Stop???????????

I do not know what the problem is with getting fuel. I have a 36ft fiver towing with a V-10 Ford and just have no problems getting into most places along the expressway in both Canada and US and the diesel pump is usually right there with the others or in the next island. Don't be afraid to block off part of gas station or have your DW stop traffic to back out onto the roadway. Works for us and we have never really had a problem.

RE: Should Class A drivers require a special license?

It really scares me that someone can purchase a 40ft DP or 36 ft 5er and just jump in and go with no experience or knowledge. I think that both should have some kind of testing and license. In Ontario Canada if you tow anything over 10000 lbs you are required to have a Class A license and I am all for it.

RE: Canadian Licence Requirements?

The law says anything over 4600kg (10000lbs) you need a Class A. A while ago we visited the main MTO office just off the 401 in Toronto to ask a Supervisor what was required. He confirmed that if you are towing a trailer over 4600kg or 10000lbs that yes you are required to have a Class A license. He said that police and MTO will not be pulling over heavy 5ers but if you are pulled over for any other reason you are deemed an unlicensed driver and will not be permitted to pull away with your 5er attached. He also cautioned about insurance implications. So I immediately went and got a Class A license. It is not that hard. Medical, written test and driving test with a back in. The driving test is very easy, such as pull out in traffic with the 5er attached, turn right, turn left, drive in traffic, change lanes and a very easy back in test into a huge spot. There was also a disconnect and connect with a verbal on what and why you are doing it. Also you cannot drive your 5er to the MTO testing site without having a Class A licensed person in the tow vehicle.

RE: Crossing the border with food

We cross the border back and forth quite often and by far the harder entry and examination is crossing into US as far as foodstuffs go. We will take no beef, fresh vegetables or fruits and have never had a problem going either way.

RE: Trip'n that little 15 amp fuse

We have much the same problem. On single 15 amp breaker is kitchen outlet (coffee maker, entire entertainment system, and electric fireplace. We have learned the 3 count. If there is 3 things on it will trip the breaker.
